Who we are looking for
The Alpha Transformation & Strategy Team is seeking a motivated and innovative risk management and business strategy professional to join our leadership team. The Vice President of Business Process & Control Design will proactively identify and propose controls to mitigate potential risks within our implementation framework and BAU operating models. This person will lead identification, analysis, and management of risk by designing and promoting a control framework through a collaborative and consultative engagement approach. This role plays an essential part in defining, monitoring, and transforming end-to-end processes while ensuring controls / risks are not compromised. Strong influential thought leadership is required to drive design, governance and standardization through frameworks across Alpha Services teams.
Reporting into the MD of Alpha Transformation & Strategy, you will be part of a team dedicated to standardizing and accelerating the onboarding of new clients onto State Street's Alpha platform and supporting their transition into BAU. As such, you will be intimately involved in the creation of new operating models, specifically development of standard processes and controls. You will work closely with both external partners and internal risk teams to drive risk excellence within the Alpha business.

What you will be responsible for
  • Leading efforts for the First Line Of Defense (FLOD) aimed at assessing risks associated with new processes and technologies, and planning/managing development & execution of new controls to mitigate this risk
  • Carrying out deep dives/targeted risk assessments on business area processes; applying knowledge of industry trends to uncover potential business risks
  • Managing the timely closure of existing audit items and facilitating the review of mitigation tactics with our internal Business Risk Management professionals
  • Building and leading documentation and reporting for development, implementation and testing of IT and Operational Process controls
  • Creating and communicating reports and KRIs to senior management to inform them of the current state of risks and the control environment
  • Ensuring consistency and accuracy regarding audits, reviews, and examinations across the business. Monitoring internal audits and risk/compliance reviews, investigating matters as needed

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in financial services; strong understanding of Investment Management front-office, middle-office, data, operations and processes is a significant plus
  • Strong awareness of risk mgmt. concepts and practice, preferably with prior experience in risk mgmt.
  • Good analytical, interpersonal, time management and research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of banking regulations, especially relating to Ops and Technology risk mgmt.
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships
  • Self-motivated, with ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally in a quantitative discipline, Finance, Economics or similar

Salary Range:
$110,000 - $185,000 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
