Who we are looking for

The private cloud is one of the offerings within platform engineering in GTS and provides compute services to tenant applications in State Street. The platform hosts 100s of applications including crown jewel, tier 0 & tier 1 applications.

As a cloud platform Systems Engineer, you will deploy solutions for our private cloud using configuration provisioning and management tools. Once in production your role is key to ensuring that solutions are operable: maintainable, manageable, stable.

The project also includes a proprietary control plane to manage compute nodes / databases, and an application framework library that implements access patterns to frequently used tools, middleware and a web UI. We are also embarking on a transformation journey to migrate workloads to newer clouds, both public and private.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for
  • Stabilizing and normalization the legacy platform
  • Provide management and leadership for a global team of engineers and projects they deploy
  • Migration to of projects to new platforms
  • Sphere of influence & scope will be across TPEO & GTS, business, enterprise-wide globally
  • Build enterprise grade toolchain for enabling cloud compute resources.
  • Avoid 2am production issues by building scalable and resilient ('works the first time') applications running globally.
  • Make things better by eliminating redundancies and manual steps via your code.

  • Experience coding in Java, python, bash, and ruby.
  • Have openness to touching multiple technologies and platforms - new and of yesteryear, and working with legacy systems and processes while creating solutions on green field platforms.
  • Focus on consistency with an eye for automation to the nth degree.
  • Have testing and operational skills - in a consistent robust, resilient, and automated manner.
  • Have the ability to design and implement with minimal supervision.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • B.S. in Computing Sciences. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in IT in the financial sector.
  • 2+ years in management capacity: team and project management and execution.

Salary Range:
$100,000 - $160,000 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
