Job Description:
  • Assists with risk management efforts for the General Corporate credit risk group (second line of defense), such as Credit Analysis & Approval and Portfolio Management. Helps with the development of documentation and reporting.
  • Primary duty is as follows: Prepares and/or reviews analyses of creditworthiness of borrowers/counterparties and financings being requested, including purpose of financing, sources of repayment, and quality of collateral (if any) in response to requests for credit from Institutional Lending (first line of defense) or lines of business.
  • Monitors news of assigned borrowers, may involve recommendations on re-ratings of internal borrower credit ratings, reviewing financial statements and earnings reports, and rating agency and analyst reports.
  • Provides back-up support for credit portfolio manager and credit relationship managers when necessary, including fielding inquiries from borrowers and/or other internal interested parties regarding credit facilities.
  • Collaborates with other analysts, as needed.
  • Interacts with Lenders/Client Executives, as needed. Reviews deal related legal documentation for proper reflection of business terms.
  • Helps to identify existing and emerging risks that are applicable to the assigned credit risk portfolio given industry trends, economic conditions, current events, etc.
  • Confirms credit analyses are in compliance with applicable credit approval authority policies and all other applicable policies. Continues to gain experience with credit systems, such as credit approval system and exposure/reporting systems. May be involved in analyzing and preparing ad hoc and standard reporting for the credit risk portfolios.
  • Reviews work with more senior professionals.
  • Contributes to the implementation of new, approved Credit Analysis & Reporting and Credit Administration risk management solutions that comply with regulatory requirements.
  • No direct reports. Contributes to the achievement of Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management and Credit Administration team objectives as an individual contributor.


Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Requirements: 5-7 years of total work experience preferred.
  • Prior experience/background in credit risk preferred.
  • In addition, may require the following experience/skills based on primary duties: Discipline Requirements: Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management: Formal credit training preferred.
  • Ability to assist with the management of diverse lending, operating products, attendant risk, foreclosure, bankruptcy and/or OREO assets.
  • Experience with borrower rating systems and tracking methodologies, and basic knowledge of fiscal and financial condition indicators.
  • Experience as an underwriter and familiarity with credit administration systems typically used by financial institutions.
