Who we are looking for
The candidate will have the opportunity to join global research team with the immediate opportunity to contribute to research analysis, production, and client engagement Although the team is multi-asset, the focus of this role will be on global equity strategy research primarily focusing on stock level recommendations using quantitative stock screening. The successful applicant will have 3-5 years working on either a buyside or sell side research role, and a strong foundation and understanding of the quantitate stock selection techniques and factor investing. Guided by a team of senior strategists, the candidate should have the desire and capacity to compile and distill inputs from vast information sets and complex relationships into a clear and focused investment thesis combining fundamental, quantitative, and proprietary indicators into their analysis. Successful candidate will have an opportunity to work / collaborate with award winning academics and industry practitioners as well as present their work at industry conferences. Candidate will attend and present strategy content meetings with both internal stakeholders and external clients, including the world's leading institutional investors, hedge funds and sovereign institutions.

What you will be responsible for
As Quant Equity Strategist you will , AVP
  • Thorough understanding of the equity investment process with a focus on quantitative analysis
  • Maintain, study and analyse stock level fundamental and price performance data sets, primarily using Python / R / Matlab
  • Integrate proprietary indicators into the database
  • Screen the database for market signals and write reports discussing factor trends
  • Able to articulate issues and explain themselves to both quantitative and discretionary sales / clients
  • Contribute to broader team discussion around market environment and investment trends
  • Demonstrate the Risk Excellence culture of State Street in your behaviour and ensure that the highest level of the code of conduct is displayed in your own staff and behaviour.

What we value
Analytical - Ability to assimilate and analyse complex market data and present one's own ideas in written and presentation form, as well as to support the work of senior strategists. The need to work to tight deadlines will be required. Familiarity with investment analysis, database management, valuation and factor investing are essential. Understanding of broader macro investing / asset allocation is desirable.
Follow thought leadership research in the field.
Communication - Solid verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills, required
Technical - extensive experience with Python, Excel and PowerPoint required. Comfort with Bloomberg, BQL, and DataStream is preferred
Ability to:
  • Author bespoke research reports on a range of investment topics
  • Create and deliver exceptional presentations to clients,
  • Build and test new applications of data including State Street's proprietary indicators
  • Proactively monitor trends in research
  • Contribute robust code and templates to team repository;
  • collaborate on joint research with other teams within strategy group
  • Research code base for investment model development
  • Develop and test quantitative research hypotheses with a focus on practical implementation
  • Backtest systematic investment strategies
  • Think outside the box and solve client challenges while clearly presenting solutions
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining strict attention to detail

Education & Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree, concentration in Economics, Finance, or Statistics/Data Science with application experience in the investment field.
Series 7&63 registration or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
3-5 years' experience in financial markets working on equity investment / quant team. Candidates from both buy- and sell-side institutions will be considered.
