Columbia Threadneedle Investments Fixed Income Intern

The Columbia Threadneedle Investments Intern Program is designed to provide students with first-hand investment management experience. The municipal bond investment team manages $15.2 billion across a broad array of strategies and vehicles. The eight senior portfolio managers are responsible for the investment decisions of seven national mutual funds, 11 state-specific mutual funds, an ETF, SMA laddered, traditional and customized securities for high-net-worth clients. The team works collaboratively with our 10-person credit research team and five dedicated municipal only trading partners for input for the investment decision-making process.

About the Columbia Threadneedle Internship Program:
Our 11-week summer intern program provides real-life experience in a collaborative and inclusive environment. As a Columbia Threadneedle intern, you will gain exposure to senior leaders, cultivate your business acumen, work on projects that directly impact the business, and network in a supportive, team-based atmosphere. In addition, you will have access to our Business Resource Networks, including the Black Employee Network, Young Professionals Network, PRIDE Network, and others.

Responsibilities

As a Municipal Portfolio Manager intern, you will support the Senior Portfolio Managers and Sr. Portfolio Analyst in a variety of daily responsibilities including monitoring cash flows in SMA accounts, running simulation and attribution reports, utilize Bloomberg and portfolio management software to contribute directly to the investment process. Help design a front-end application in the CTI Data Science cloud to chart credit spreads of various municipal securities using ICE Security data already stored in the cloud. You will work with an experienced team of senior portfolio managers who will provide mentorship and opportunities for shadowing. As part of the investment process, you will also regularly interact with traders and credit analysts across the broader Municipal bond Investments team.

Required Qualifications

• Current Junior at a 4-year university pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Quantitative or Science degree with a focus in Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field with demonstrated ability to conduct research
• Graduation date of December 2023 or May/June 2024
• Demonstrated leadership experience

• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Ability to work and communicate collaboratively with others
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
