The Columbia Threadneedle Investments Intern Program is designed to provide students with first-hand investment management experience. The Investment Consultancy & Oversight group is a global team of 19 investment professionals that seeks to provide actionable insights and investment oversight for our firm's investment strategies. The US based team, comprised of 11 investment professionals, focuses on our US equity, fixed-income, and asset allocation products, and works collaboratively with the investment teams, in those asset classes, overseeing their strategies and helping to continually improve portfolio outcomes.

About the Columbia Threadneedle Internship Program:
Our 11-week summer intern program provides real-life experience in a collaborative and inclusive environment. As a Columbia Threadneedle intern, you will gain exposure to senior leaders, cultivate your business acumen, work on projects that directly impact the business, and network in a supportive, team-based atmosphere. In addition, you will have access to our Business Resource Networks, including the Black Employee Network, Young Professionals Network, PRIDE Network, and others.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist the team's efforts gathering, analyzing, and presenting data that form the basis for actionable insights helping to improve portfolio outcomes. Assist in the automation of processes that improve and expand existing capabilities, within the team, and participate in ad-hoc projects related to a strategy's investment process, product positioning, and/or overall performance consistent with the team's efforts toward continual improvement and oversight.

Examples of past intern projects include:
  • Creating/improving dashboards used by the team in overseeing investment strategies.
  • Automating processes such as attribution, charts displaying investment strategy/benchmark analytics, and return/risk data used by our team in assessing a strategy's investment process.
  • Collaborating with business partners in Risk, Product, Trading, and Research teams to maximize information sharing and bring insights from those areas into our analysis/discussions.


Required Qualifications

  • Current Junior at a 4-year university pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Quantitative or Science degree with a focus in Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • Graduation date of December 2023 or May/June 2024
  • Demonstrated leadership experience

  • High degree of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work and communicate collaboratively with others
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and aptitude for solving problems
  • Programming skills in R, Python, SQL, VBA, MATLAB, or similar
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets
