We are currently seeking a technology leader who will be responsible for driving, planning, and governance of our new IT Data and Application Operations team supporting SSGA's flagship applications and strategic projects. The role will oversee support resources servicing foundational data and application infrastructure components. We are looking for a technology lead to organize and deliver scalable support solutions for our environment today and plan for our future state tomorrow. The successful candidate will have strong business and technology acumen, build partnerships, foster close collaboration and work hand in hand with the business and technology teams to resolve challenging support issues. The candidate must possess an inherent understanding of technologies, relationships between technology, data, operations, and business areas to provide excellent support for our investment teams. This role will provide leadership within a global team of support personnel as well as working to resolve escalated issues that require senior attention.
As the regions Data and Application Operations Support Manager, you will
  • Co-Lead a global team of Level 2 and 3 support resources to provide 24x6 support using a follow-the-sun model.
  • Move the organization from a dev team centric support model to a more scalable support model leveraging synergies between similar applications and platforms.
  • Define, govern, and continuously evolve the technology support strategy we implement with a focus on a successful and stable future roadmap
  • Unify several disparate support teams leveraging their subject matter expertise while focusing on bench strength and collaboration
  • Establish framework & criteria for transitioning applications into support organization
  • Drive monitoring paradigm shift from detect/alert to self-correct or auto recover.
  • Establish relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the right support engagement and alignment is achieved for each functional area
  • Establish a framework with clearly defined prioritization, timelines, and metrics across our global support desk
  • Collaborate with our Alpha and CRD partners at a program level to design and implement our future support strategy
  • Provide leadership to application and functional Product Owners, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders to implement solutions
  • Oversee onboarding initiatives for other open employee and contractor roles within the team
  • Key systems include our new AWS Redshift& Databricks based decision support platform, our flagship web service platforms which provide key business functionality and data to our internal applications, and our flagship data warehouse the SSGA Data Hub. Additionally the team oversees a number of application platforms and services.

These skills will help you succeed in this role:
  • Proven track record leading complex technology programs and support staff that impact multiple organizations.
  • Experience working/navigating effectively a very matrixed organization
  • People management experience
  • Detailed knowledge of the Asset Management or Investment Management industry and data.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in dealing with all levels of the organization, both internal and external
  • Strong presentation skills

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Qualified degree
  • Financial Services background, including investment or asset management
  • Information technology expertise
  • Experience in relevant applications and platforms (AWS, web services, data warehouse, ETL, Tableau, J2EE software stacks, other database platforms)
