About the Team

AGF’s Fixed Income team is looking for a credit research analyst who will support the lead portfolio managers. The Fixed Income team is responsible for managing AGF’s bond mandates worth over $6 billion spread over a variety of strategies: core plus, high yield, emerging markets, total return, target date and convertibles.

About the Role

As a Fixed Income Credit Analyst, you will report to the Co-Heads of Fixed Income and will closely work with the Head of Global Credit and portfolio managers. You will be focused on producing fundamental research on corporate credits while incorporating critical elements of sustainability analysis.

 

Leveraging technical/industry knowledge and strong financial analysis skills across multiple sectors, you will work with a strong pool of credit research professionals to maintain coverage of existing positions and analyze new investment opportunities. 

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct company, industry, and market research for assigned sectors in global high yield, investment grade, and emerging markets

  • Generate a list of high conviction and actionable credit recommendations, maintain coverage of existing positions, monitor new issue activity

  • Conduct cross-capital structure analysis to generate relative value ideas

  • Identify key company ESG risks and opportunities and connect sustainability performance and valuation

  • Develop an understanding of material sustainability factors for assigned sectors

  • Engage with corporate management teams, rating agencies, regulators (where applicable), sell side research, desk analysts, credit traders, and attend conferences

  • Regularly contribute unique insights to team and department discussions enhancing collaboration

  • Prepare presentations for the investment management team and provide commentary on sector specific themes

 

Your Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of combined work experience in fundamental credit/equity analysis

  • Relevant undergraduate/graduate degree, ideally with some knowledge of financial statement analysis

  • SASB/FSA or relevant sustainability experience would be an asset

  • CFA designation preferred or working towards it

  • Highly collaborative, team oriented, organized, adaptable and able to work independently

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
