What you will be responsible for: Using discretion and judgement, functions as an architect and development lead supporting our Fund Treasury and Finance departments by analyzing requirements and collaborating in an Agile environment to deliver software solutions. Serves as technical lead for the team throughout the software development lifecycle. Responsible for ensuring that development and security standards are established and adhered to across applications. Collaborates with Agile team and management to prioritize work based on business demand. May lead multiple projects simultaneously.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Translates business requirements into technical functional specifications for the development of new functionality , primarily of custom built, Spring-based Java applications.
  • Solves complex programming challenges.
  • Leads team members in implementation of system solutions.
  • Directs resources in their participation in projects; monitors assignments and makes recommendations regarding training, development, and technology implementations for areas of responsibility.
  • Understands business processes and recommends ways to increase efficiency or effectiveness.
  • Helps to standardize processes across projects.
  • Troubleshoots system, software, and production problems.
  • Has input to strategic project planning and develops short- and long-range plans to satisfy departmental and client objectives.
  • Works with Management to develop and implement strategic solutions in adherence with accepted architectural standards.
  • Keeps technical skills current; well-versed in several areas of technology.
  • Meets with vendors and evaluates products or services where appropriate.
  • Able to guide and advise junior colleagues through technical issues.
  • Helps develop and manage technology from the business unit perspective in partnership with IT to provide best solutions for MFS.
  • Provides input to budget planning process.
  • Recommends cost saving solutions where appropriate.


Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of full stack development experience working on Java-based applications, preferably using Spring framework.
  • Development experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle.
  • Experience working within a mature SDLC model; working closely with BA and QA ream members as well as end users to drive solutions to completion.
  • Experience working in a continuous integration environment, i.e., automated build and code scanning is preferred.
  • Experience with reporting or BI solutions a plus. Strong collaboration as well as oral/written communication skills is a must.
