What you will be responsible for: The Data Scientist in collaboration with the Business Strategist team will analyze and evaluate large quantities of data. Leveraging your advanced data analysis skills, you will create develop and iterate innovative approaches to answer business questions. You will apply a data-driven analytical approach to a variety of problems related to the Distribution team.

The Data Scientist is expected to deliver unique data driven solutions, providing insights to key stakeholders that improve business outcomes. You will work in conjunction with and deliver solutions to complement existing teams.

Principal Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the entire analytical process - from data preparation to outlining the type of solution (implementation and interpretation of the results). You will constructively discuss your findings in dialog with the business strategies and senior leaders.

The primary function will include, but are not limited to:
  • Working with global business strategists, technology, and operations team to integrate business needs with data analytics technology solutions. These solutions will be delivered by:
    • Defining the problem and identifying business requirements.
    • Identifying, collecting, loading, and preparing the data.
    • Building analytical models using descriptive, predictive, and other advanced analytical techniques on transformed data sets.
    • Analyzing and interpreting the results of the analytical models.
    • Communicating results clearly and concisely using visual formats.

  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders and leaders to gather and synthesize relevant data, analyzing and developing final recommendations.
  • Identifying opportunities to deliver novel process improvements
  • Collaborating with the subject matter experts and technologists, further enhance the Data Analytics program's technical capabilities. This will include:
    • Working with Enterprise Architecture to identify new tools and data sets which can be leveraged to keep the platform current.
    • Collaborating with various teams across the organization to identify new third party and open-source solutions along with new datasets for use by the program.

  • Developing appropriate governance procedures in conjunction with other Data Scientists.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics and Operations Research strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of data science and/or business analytics experience
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, R and/or SAS; additional knowledge of other data mining software a plus
  • Experience with analyzing complex, high volume, high dimensionality data from varying sources and both structured and unstructured
  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning /statistical techniques, data mining, regression, decision trees, text mining, etc.; Gradient boosting, random forest, deep learning/AI a plus
  • Understanding of relational, XML and NoSQL database models and with associated data access methods (SQL). Cloud experience a strong plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and work effectively with people at all levels in the organization
  • Proven ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and willingness to understand the business implications of a wide variety of data
  • Ability to deliver complex analysis concisely to decision makers using visualization techniques
