Who we are looking for:

As a seasoned B2B writer you will serve on the Content Strategy Team partnering with marketing managers, digital producers, and subject matter experts across a spectrum of investment topics. You have experience developing engaging and effective content for digital channels, from websites and blogs to social media posts and commercial marketing emails. Like us, you spurn jargon, passive prose and compound sentences. Instead, you opt for clarity and the opportunity to turn complicated topics into easy-to-understand language that supports our brand attributes and grabs your audience's attention. As part of the Global Marketing team, this role is based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Why this role is important to us

State Street's Global Marketing group is responsible for telling our company's story - to all of our audiences and through a variety of channels. As part of that group, the Content Strategy and Development team is key to ensuring that we maintain a voice that's clear, conversational, reflects who we are as an organization, and gets to the point on the topics that matter to our clients, prospects and stakeholders.

What you will be responsible for

As AVP, Senior Writer, you will:
  • Manage end-to-end content development for assigned areas
  • Produce professional content in a variety of forms including product, services, and solutions-based articles, marketing collateral, web landing pages, blog posts, case studies, perspectives pieces, email communication, video scripts, social copy, and more
  • Champion best practices in writing and style, information architecture, grammar, quality, and messaging effectiveness
  • Write, edit, adapt and optimize content for multiple uses, provide constructive and thought provoking feedback to subject matter experts and other writers
  • Work with colleagues across Global Marketing to draft compelling content that supports strategic lead-generation and user experience/journey objectives, and promotes research campaigns, client events and other marketing initiatives
  • Advise teams across State Street on how to strategically position engaging content that is relevant to our audience
  • Review content performance metrics and make recommendations on how to optimize content efficacy

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:
  • You can balance multiple business stakeholder and vendor relationships, and collaborate effectively with internal partners
  • You confidently communicate content marketing and promotional best practice approaches and recommendations to stakeholders
  • You can adroitly navigate competing priorities in a fast-paced, complex, globally distributed environment
  • You have a creative streak and can identify competitive white space
  • You manage strictly to deadlines but are willing to pitch in wherever writing support is required
  • You are comfortable working on your own and as part of a team
  • You continually sharpen and refine your skills and stay well-informed on how to deliver new and innovative content

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in a global B2B environment
  • Demonstrable storytelling, interviewing, and research experience
  • Ability to develop content in multiple mediums and formats including print, digital, audio, video, and both long- and short-form articles, abstracts, and promotional microcopy
  • Knowledge of financial services and experience writing about financial industry trends and concepts is preferred

Are you the right candidate? Yes!

We truly believe in the power that comes from the diverse backgrounds and experiences our employees bring with them. Although each vacancy details what we are looking for, we don't necessarily need you to fulfil all of them when applying. If you like change and innovation, seek to see the bigger picture, make data driven decisions and are a good team player, you could be a great fit.
