OVERVIEW
The Private Investment Valuation Analyst candidate will play a lead role in analyzing complex private equity or private/illiquid securities to determine fair valuation. The determination of the fair value will require gathering and disseminating company financial information, performing primary fundamental research and analysis, presenting recommendations to the Pricing Committee, and communicating recommendations to internal and external clients.
The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable of the securities industry, has a strong understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methodologies, is detail oriented, has a strong sense of responsibility, and works well independently as well as part of a team. The candidate should have either a CFA or MBA designation or should be working toward it.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform company research and determine independent valuations involving:
- Building comprehensive valuation models based on primary fundamental research, company financials, quarterly board presentations, management calls, etc.
- Reviewing various legal documents (SPAs, Charters, ROFRs, M&A filings) to ensure rights and preferences of shares are accurately valued
- Attending relevant company meetings and industry conferences
- Conducting market research and analyzing industry trends
- Successful collaboration with third party providers on any outsourced valuations
- Develop relationships with top Management at Companies under Fair Value coverage
- Formulate new as well as update existing fair value recommendations, which may require both creative and in-depth analysis and valuation methodologies
- Primary coverage of 30+ investments across various sectors - the team consists of generalists, with each analyst typically focused on 2-3 industries. Experience in Technology, Enterprise Software and SaaS sectors is a plus
- Prepare, review, and present fair value recommendations, fair value policies and company updates for members of the Pricing Committee
- Collaborate with various groups throughout the firm including: Internal Counsel, Wellington Alternatives Investment Group, Global Industry Analysts, Equity & Fixed Income Research Analysts, Global Equity & Fixed Income Trading, Portfolio Managers, Securities Valuation Team, Corporate Actions Team, and Global Relationship Management
- Research and resolve client inquiries timely, thoroughly, and accurately
- Stay abreast of SEC and regulatory fair value requirements
- 10+ years of applicable industry experience including developing financial models for fair value analysis and/or company and security analysis
- Expertise within Technology/Enterprise Software/SaaS sectors strongly preferred
- Superior understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methods
- Advanced knowledge of fixed income and equity instruments, experience with private equity securities a plus
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Exhibits a proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
- Thoroughness, attention to detail and the ability to think and work independently and within a team environment are a must
- Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, self-directed, and think outside the box
- Excellent verbal and written communications including presentation and facilitation skills
- Strong desire to improve and enhance processes
- Designation of or demonstrated progress toward CFA or MBA strongly preferred
