JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a candidate for a technology manager position. This role works closely with members of IT and business teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support solutions to meet business requirements. This is a great opportunity for an experienced manager to lead a strong development team focused on Portfolio Administration technology within Wellington's Client and Portfolio Technology & Operations organization.

Our Portfolio Administration platform serves complex requirements on multiple fronts including:
  • A high-volume environment with substantial daily transaction activity
  • A wide variety of asset classes across equity, fixed income, and derivatives
  • A large number of markets in which we invest around the world
  • A global team of investors and relationship managers who need timely data
  • A complex technology environment providing real-time integration with many of our investment and client reporting applications
The candidate should have a strong systems development background, including experience building and maintaining complex applications and a good understanding of high-volume data management.

Due to the many consumers of portfolio accounting data around the firm, this position requires a high level of collaboration with business and technology stakeholders in multiple domains, as well as excellent communication and delivery skills. This individual must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work on a variety of assignments with people at all levels of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities are multi-dimensional and include the management of development teams, technology design, project delivery and program oversight.
  • Lead a team of 6-8 software engineers to ensure the delivery of on-time, scalable and high-quality technical solutions
  • Manage projects from initiation through execution and delivery
  • Ensure quality of product by enforcing established architectural/technology standards
  • Provide leadership during production support outages as needed
  • Develop a strong partnership with business and IT stakeholders to identify requirements and set priorities
  • Establish a strategic vision and roadmap to deliver capabilities that align with business priorities
  • Recommend modifications to established practices and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce risk
  • Collaborate with other IT teams within Wellington to ensure effective integration with portfolio management, trading, and other applications
  • Create a shared technology vision to build and support a world class technology platform that exceeds the needs of our users
  • Maintain relationships with key consulting partners and application vendors, ensuring a high level of service
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships, both in technology and portfolio accounting, to stay attuned to evolving industry trends and best practices
QUALIFICATIONS
This role requires strong skills in the areas of portfolio accounting and investment process expertise, client management, technical leadership, and staff development.
  • 10 years of experience in delivering technology solutions with full project lifecycle experience (functional analysis, technical design, development, deployment, support)
  • 5 years of management experience with direct oversight of technology teams and deliverables
  • Strong project management/ project methodology and delivery skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
  • Strong client relationship skills and proven ability to build consensus
  • Experience working directly with business partners to understand their needs and deliver solutions that meet those needs
  • Change agent, creative, innovative, and focused on continuous improvements
  • Self-motivated and willing to work in an energetic, fast paced team environment
  • Experience supporting critical production applications
  • Experience in Financial Industry required, with direct Portfolio Administration experience preferred
