OVERVIEW
Our Operational Risk Management (ORM) Team, as members of Wellington's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function, collaborates with all three lines of defense to optimize the firm's strategic and tactical operational risk exposure through continuous key risk identification and monitoring, risk aware decision making, and the development and driving of the risk agenda and related mitigation strategies. The Team is expanding its capability set to align with the firm's digitization and enterprise data strategies, and related business process automation and controls design agenda.

THE POSITION
The Risk Professional, located in Boston, will advise first line leadership on control automation opportunities, control enhancements, and test coverage of automated control processes implemented via applications supported by both IT and Operations teams as well as the governance of business process controls, including control design assessments. The Sr. Risk Analyst will also advise on the governance of software development life cycle, including business requirements development, functional specifications, and testing in an effort to ensure business controls are adequately incorporated into application design. This position will also collaborate closely with business process design engineers, the Enterprise Data Services and Internal Audit Teams.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Advise and challenge on controls design during the application development process
  • Assess current application testing practices and advise on effective code coverage, acceptance testing
  • Risk ranked approach to risk and controls design assessments on Wellington's existing suite of applications
  • Training on controls design for automations
  • Mapping of key risks and risk indicators to applications development/enhancement prioritization
  • Ensuring appropriate documentation of automated processes and controls, including application inventories and documentation of functionality
  • Monitoring the remediation of controls gaps (identified through incidents, audit findings, controls assessments, and applications testing)
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate with a minimum of 8 years of experience which includes risk management, software product management, business/systems analysis, and/or process design, ideally but not limited to the investment management industry. Business consulting or risk advisory experience is a plus. We will also consider internal candidates for this position. Additional qualifications may include:
  • Strong technology skills to quickly understand application architecture and relevant risks
  • Critical thinking and judgement in analyzing the root cause, risk impact of business/application processes, and the ability to recommend pragmatic controls design
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with business, technology, and risk function leaders
  • Understanding and appreciation of software development methodologies including Agile, Devops
  • Experience with developing and assessing controls design and operational risk management frameworks
  • Ability to prototype solutions, proficiency in languages and data visualization tools such as SQL, Tableau, Python, etc
  • Technology risk management
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Strong analytical and problem solving, and project management skills
  • Strategic and critical thinker who is also results oriented and pragmatic
