Columbia Threadneedle Investments is looking for an Information Strategy Lead to join our team and support the firm's information strategy capabilities globally. The ideal candidate will lead in the maturation of the data governance program to generate the greatest value. This position works directly with various data stewards throughout Columbia Threadneedle Investments to gather critical data elements, ensure compliance to quality assurance routines, periodically validate assurance routines, build management dashboards, and participate in the Information Strategy Council meetings.

This candidate is passionate about enabling and continuing the pathway to becoming a data-driven organization through the creation of enterprise data assets which provide governed, high-quality data to all information consumers both internal and external. We have strong executive support, and Information Strategy and Governance is central to achieving both short and long-term objectives. As the Information Strategy Lead, you will help our firm in continuing to use data as a true strategic asset and to drive our strategic framework accelerating progress and driving its adoption across the organization. This individual will play an integral role in providing counsel and direction for the prioritization of data assets; improvement of data quality and accessibility; workforce education and adoption, as well as functional requirements to promote effective data use with accessible and curated data sources. Additionally, the individual will take part in building and maturing our Business Glossary and other programs, policies and procedures are maintained and accurate. An understanding of both the technical points of data management, as well as the business drivers for data and solutions, is a core capability.

Responsibilities

  • Builds plans; direct committees and Operating Framework; drive issue resolution; maintain performance metrics; contribute to the Information Strategy Transformation and Governance Program; strive to increase firm's capabilities and maturity.
  • Understand business drivers and Operations; exhibit executive presence, positive relationship building aligned with business partners, a focus on partnership ensuring executive engagement, strategic alignment, business value and delivering a pervasive data aware culture.
  • Work with data owners/stewards to develop control structures within the environment to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels
  • Evolve the program processes and frameworks, including but not limited to: policy development, standards for cataloging data assets & metadata curation, data governance roles & responsibilities (definition, assignment, and recruitment), governance community development, Master Data Management strategy & associated stewardship, dataset certification.
  • Enable data quality reporting, issue identification, remediation, and tracking, ensuring trust and confidence in data across domains.
  • Provide analytics on governance health and progress to firm's Data Leadership
  • Maintain on-going communication around progress and successes of the data governance program to generate excitement and drive adoption.
  • Drives training and awareness efforts on the importance of trust, security, availability, and consistent usage of data.
  • Collaborate with business, project, or program teams to guide them through adoption of the processes and set expectations to adhere to governance requirements and processes.
  • Provide analysis of data governance activities and recommend changes to management.
  • Analyze new data being consumed by the business to determine if any data elements should be considered critical data elements
  • Coordinate the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the business owners and Information Technology
  • Facilitate and collaborate between colleagues and technology regarding data ownership and stewardship responsibilities
  • Established and maintains effective working relationships, both internally and externally


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Financial Industry experience a plus
  • Experience in developing data management rules, standards, and business policies
  • Cross-functional knowledge of enterprise data capabilities: data quality, data lineage, data catalog/glossary, metadata management, and advanced data analysis solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-leading data governance, management, and protection practices.
  • Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
  • Analytics experience, e.g., data visualization, data analytics, data mining, business intelligence, preferred.
  • Experience in data warehousing, data lakes in Cloud environments and master data management, preferred
  • Ability to resolve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Strong communication skills regarding both technical and non-technical matters
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with attention to detail while meeting deadlines


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Asset management experience, especially retail transfer agent, sales, distribution, and marketing.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, R, Python, and/or Amazon Web Services.
  • Intermediate experience with PowerPoint, Access and Excel.
