What you will be responsible for: The Regulatory Analyst II (Paralegal) is responsible for the review and development of regulatory filings and other related materials for MFS, its funds and its subsidiaries. This position is responsible for maintaining certain group resources as well as assisting in specialized projects, implementing new processes and procedures relating to the i mpact of regulatory changes on funds or client accounts, and assisting in drafting changes to applicable documentation, procedures, and filings as needed.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Develop and review regulatory filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or other regulatory agencies/authorities. Promptly identify and elevate issues of concern for review. Ensure filings and other documentation are prepared in a timely and complete manner in accordance with departmental procedures and deadlines. Review calendars and other resources to ensure same. Effectively employ job-specific technology in preparing filings and other disclosure-related materials. Negotiate with other internal and external parties to bring matters to fruition. Interact with other divisions within MFS and external business partners/vendors to finalize disclosure and to develop procedures to enhance the quality and flow of work. Offer suggestions to improve the drafting and review process.
  • Gather data to determine documentation requirements, make assessments, and offer suggestions as to what is required to meet requirements and deadlines. Maintain active awareness of changes in MFS, its funds, its subsidiaries, and its clients in relation to the impact on regulatory requirements and documentation requirements. Work with outside counsel as necessary to review documentation and resolve issues related to disclosure filings.
  • Maintain reference files and communications regarding documentation and filings. Maintain and update filing or other schedules, and provide updates to various departments at MFS that require this information on a regular basis.
  • Participate in specialized projects that involve multiple concerns throughout MFS, its funds and its subsidiaries. Interact with others to achieve project goals and ensure timely and efficient production. Work closely with internal clients and external business partners/vendors to complete assigned projects accurately and on time. Analyze process with various departments at MFS, external business partners/vendors, and clients to seek process improvements. Negotiate and resolve issues with concerned parties. Interact with counterparties and vendors, evaluate products and services, resolve issues with same, etc.
  • Keep abreast of rules and regulations affecting fund matters as well as other investment management issues.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. A minimum of at least three years' investment management, financial services or industry-related legal/compliance experience is preferred.
  • Solid interpersonal, organizational, communication, customer-service, team-working and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be thorough, detail-oriented, persistent, self-motivated, and able to function with a high degree of independence and accuracy, while adhering to departmental and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects while meeting competing deadlines.
  • An aptitude for analytical work and an interest in that work is necessary.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and able to develop proficiency in various MFS proprietary systems required to perform the duties of this position. Must be able to conduct research and to utilize applicable tools.
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary to keep current with work.
