What you will be responsible for: The Network Architect is a subject matter expert in Data Communications and is responsible for the design, implementation, and effective and efficient maintenance of related technologies. In addition, this individual has broader knowledge of Information Technology at large, with a firm understanding of related disciplines and how they interoperate. The Network Architect will be responsible for leading design, implementation, and troubleshooting efforts and will be directly accountable for the results. The Network Architect's deep and broad knowledge enables a holistic understanding of the technology environment.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Serves as key subject matter expert in the field of Voice, Video, and Data Communications maintaining a deep understanding of the field and its related technologies.
  • Provides technical support to ensure the ongoing efficient, secure, and reliable operations of related MFS information systems.
  • Proactively develops and maintains strong knowledge of MFS information systems and their related components, and makes recommendations to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, or security of these systems as appropriate.
  • This includes proactive performance tuning and capacity analysis to ensure MFS is maximizing its technology investment.
  • Leverages technology to automate manual tasks, and seeks to improve efficiency wherever practicable and appropriate.
  • Enforces and maintains MFS Information Security controls, procedures, and standards.
  • Aids in the development of controls, procedures and standards as required. Receives broad goals and overall objectives from Management and proactively establishes and implements the methods to attain them.
  • Leads projects and is directly accountable for meeting project objectives including timelines and budgeting.
  • Serves as mentor to other technical team members, and presents technology briefings to IT and business line management as required.


JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • Strong subject matter expertise in the field, with familiarity with other related Information Technologies.
  • Solid understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle models
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate well with members of senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and financial skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
  • Six or more (6+) years of related Information Technology experience.
  • Solid data communications experience working in an enterprise network environment.
  • LAN/WAN, and Remote Office operations
  • Hands-on experience in configuration, management, problem solving and troubleshooting of Cisco routers/switches.
  • Hands-on experience in network management platforms/tools.
  • Strong PC technical skills such as troubleshooting, general networking, and technology knowledge Cisco certifications or equivalent technical engineering qualification required Hands-on experience in Network Firewall technology
  • Hands-on experience in Network IDS/IPS Security technology Understanding of MS Active Directory
  • Hands-on experience in TCP/IP and DNS/DHCP
  • Hands-on experience in network load balancing platforms
  • Hands-on experience in VPN networks and mobile end user support Interface with Global carriers to implement data solutions.
  • Experience working with network patching and network cross connect best practices and inventory control.
  • Multi-tasking skills Can work in 7/24 operational mode.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in Cisco routing/switching (CATOS, IOS) and protocols: (BGP, IPSEC, SMTP, SNMP and OSPF)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Identify inefficiencies and make suggestions for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with other IT and business groups, readily share information with others.
  • Knowledge of VoIP operations, WAN operations experience, and Wireless networking experience.
  • Enterprise networking experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience staying abreast of current network technologies, make recommendations based on knowledge and research.
  • Work on complex problems and provide innovative suggestions for solutions.
  • Experience designing, building and upgrading large data center networks including build-outs with Cisco, and firewall deployments
  • Proven skills troubleshooting complex network outages
  • Experience with QoS & MPLS technologies In-depth knowledge of and experience in mitigating network security issues, along with general IT skills so to assist in working with other technical teams on security issues
  • The ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management will be key to this roles.
  • Identify inefficiencies and make suggestions for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with other IT and business groups, readily share information with others.
  • Knowledge of VoIP operations, WAN operations experience, and Wireless networking experience.
  • Enterprise networking experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience staying abreast of current network technologies, make recommendations based on knowledge and research.
  • Work on complex problems and provide innovative suggestions for solutions.
