Principal Software Engineer | Next-gen Python-Native Research Platform | Remote

One of Boston's most prestigious hedge funds has an opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of their next gen quantitative research platform. This is a tech-first, data driven firm, and this platform will be their premier next-gen technology product. In this role, you will design and build POCs that will enhance the current platform and create Python based APIs and frameworks for development teams across this entire firm. You'll act as a technical leader and collaborate closely with multiple development teams, working as a hands-on, individual contributor. You will also collaborate directly with traders and researchers to understand their needs, and shape how technology can evolve the overall research and investment strategy going forward.

Day to day:
  • Design and build POCs for feature enhancements for this firm's primary research platform, which is one of their most critical, revenue generating technology products
  • Design and build Python APIs, frameworks, and libraries for internal development teams
  • Use cutting edge technologies (Python, Jupyter Notebook), cloud services, and containers to ensure this platform is secure, reliable, and performance is scalable for large volumes of real-time market data

Qualifications:
  • BS or equivalent degree
  • Strong expertise building APIs with Python
  • Experience building service based architecture

Bonus skills (not required):
  • Experience exposing/processing/aggregating data, creating data models, or with machine learning
  • Experience with Jupyter Lab, Hub, or Notebooks
  • Experience with containers (Docker/Kubernetes)

Capitalize on:
  • Extremely competitive employee benefits program, 401K, and compensation package
  • One of the best-rated work cultures and work/life balances in the industry (casual dress, collaborative teams, and high retainment)
  • Option to be fully remote (must travel to Boston once per year)
