Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

We are transitioning to a hybrid work environment where both remote work and the office play a critical role. Our vision is a future where all employees are empowered to work flexibly to drive the best outcomes for our clients. Flexible work is a mindset and a core value. Our employees are encouraged to work remotely two days a week as a standard practice and will have flexibility in terms of working hours.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Early Career Investor (ECI) Program as a Fixed Income Credit Research Associate working with our Structured Finance Research Group. Based in Boston, this individual will be responsible for working with a team to help cover structured products across a variety of sectors including CLO, CMBS, RMBS and ABS.

The Structured Finance investment team is a dynamic and growing team that is currently responsible for $54 billion in assets. As part of the Structured Finance Research Team, the ECI Research Associate will be fully integrated into the investment process and expected to help conduct deep fundamental analysis, providing unique and insightful research and relative value commentary. This work will support investment recommendations that help shape portfolio manager decisions and add value to client portfolios.

The ideal candidate will have strong passion for credit investing, specific interest and experience in structured finance is preferred but not required. The individual will embrace fiduciary responsibilities and possess a flexible mindset with the desire to learn/grow and contribute in a team setting. In addition, the ECI Research Associate will regularly interact, collaborate and share research with other investment professionals across our global investment platform, including other RAs, credit analysts, members of our Investment Science and IT groups, equity analysts who cover similar industries, portfolio managers, traders, and macro strategists

The size of the Program is intentionally kept small to ensure participants receive personalized attention. There is a competitive and rigorous interview process for each applicant.

We are seeking candidates who possess the following experience and characteristics:
• Two to five years of experience in and passion for research and investing in fixed income preferred.
• Desire to work with large data sets and analyze Structured Finance investment opportunities and solid understanding of investment concepts
• Analytical and problem-solving skills: must be able to synthesize disparate information, identify the most important elements, and arrive at a conclusion
• Strong intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset

• Aptitude for building and applying Investment Science skills
• Willingness and ability to take risk, strong learning orientation and willingness to try new things, and a broad, differentiated perspective
• Aptitude for building investment science skill sets. We are looking for individuals that are willing to learn and have an interest in the intersection of science and investing. Python programming skills are highly preferred.
• An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record required; progression toward CFA or MBA/MSF degree will be viewed favorably

The goal of the ECI Program is to support the firm's mission of superior investment performance. Additionally, we endeavor to develop and identify exceptional Early Career Investors (ECIs) to build our pipeline of talented investors. For this role, program participants will play a critical role in assisting experienced analysts and portfolio managers in conducting structured credit research and implementing their investment process. This is a 3-5-year growth opportunity, with the ability to join an investing team as platform needs arise and when an ECI has demonstrated readiness. Some ECIs pursue graduate studies upon completion of the Program, if they do not have graduate degrees already.

The Program affords a unique opportunity for those individuals who are passionate about a career in investment research and investing. Candidates that are successfully hired will have the opportunity to participate in the summer Boston-based in-house training curriculum focused on developing skills critical to investing, including but not limited to: accounting, financial statement analysis, and financial modeling skills, as well as providing broad exposure to the investors and investment landscape at WMC. Supplemental training and career coaching will be provided on a continuous basis throughout each participant's tenure with the Program along with mentorship from experienced investors and peers. In addition, participants will be required to pursue the CFA designation to further their financial acumen

To be formally considered for the ECI Program, please see the instructions and requirements outlined below.
