POSITION

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Fixed Income Credit Analyst (Analyst) to join our Municipal Credit Research team. This individual will be primarily responsible for covering tax-backed sectors in the municipal market and for providing fundamental research on the bond issuers within them. As an active member of the Municipal team, the Analyst will be fully integrated into the investment process and expected to provide investment recommendations that add value to client portfolios, as well as to help shape portfolio management decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong passion for investing, specific experience and interest in municipal bonds, embrace fiduciary responsibilities and possess a flexible mindset with the desire to learn/grow in a Team setting. In addition, municipal analysts regularly interact and collaborate with other investment professionals at the firm including other analysts in Fixed Income Credit Research, portfolio managers, traders, macro analysts, and equity analysts. Coverage will include state and local general obligation bonds, as well as other municipal sectors, to be determined depending on the ideal candidate's background, skill set and expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will be an experienced general obligation analyst with deep fundamental research skills and a formal credit training background (from a bank, rating agency, bond insurer or other investment firm). In addition, the Analyst will be intellectually curious, analytically and quantitatively rigorous, and will thrive in a highly collaborative environment that fosters rich investment dialogue, debates, and insights from diverse perspectives.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess:
  • High level of initiative and experience developing and implementing value-added investment recommendations
  • Interest in relating the credit risk of covered credits to those of other sectors and placing them in a relative value framework.
  • Minimum of seven years of previous municipal credit experience, preferably with expertise in state and local general obligations.
  • Strong influencing, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort dealing with uncertainty and taking risk.
  • Experience applying quantitative methodologies and technology to the credit research process.
  • An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record; CFA and advanced degrees are relevant, not required.
