Role

The Operational Due Diligence (“ODD”) Specialist will closely evaluate and monitor the operations of prospective and existing managers that are a part of SCS’s investment program across all asset classes (private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, fixed income, public equity, etc.). The ODD Specialist will also be responsible for reviewing legal and tax terms, managing the NDA process with external investment managers, participating in the manager onboarding process and maintaining the ODD database amongst other ad hoc items. A successful candidate will have a strong desire to become an expert in evaluating investment operations, a demonstrated interest in alternative investments, an outstanding educational background, and displays a high degree of intellectual curiosity. Responsibilities

  • Conduct operational due diligence on prospective and existing investment managers across all assets classes (private equity, venture capital, private credit, private real assets, hedge funds, public fixed income and public equity)
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the investment operations, compliance and controls of existing and prospective investment managers across asset classes
  • Review investment manager marketing materials, legal documents, questionnaires; identify key terms and provide suggestions when appropriate
  • Coordinate and conduct on-site/virtual meetings with senior operations and investment personnel at external investment managers, conduct follow-up and monitoring calls as appropriate
  • Draft operational due diligence memos and reports for investment committee review
  • Maintain the ODD database
  • Network with other ODD professionals and institutional LPs
  • Participate in investment committee meetings
  • Work closely with investment and private client teams
  • Administer the firm’s NDA program

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or other related discipline
  • 2-3 years investment management or financial services experience
  • Prior operational due diligence or alternative investment operations experience strongly preferred
  • Having or working towards obtaining the CAIA and/or CFA designations is strongly preferred
  • Solid knowledge of investment management and financial market concepts
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on several assignments simultaneously
  • Significant travel (~40%), domestic and international
