Job Summary:
NEPC’s Research Team is responsible for identifying and monitoring superior investment managers and strategies, for researching various investment topics of interest to our clients, and for communicating our research and recommendations internally and externally. The Senior Research Consultant – Public Markets (“Research Consultant”) will be responsible for the review, evaluation and analysis of the investment managers and strategies within the public equity markets. This includes identifying, interviewing and performing due diligence (qualitative and quantitative) on new and existing managers. The Sr. Research Consultant also will be responsible for formulating and communicating market views through client discussions, educational presentations for both internal and external use, and research white papers. Attending and speaking at industry conferences, as well as NEPC conferences and offsites, is required. It is expected that this individual will be involved with negotiation of investment commitments and relationships and will interact with clients and new business presentations as necessary. Some travel is required.
Job Qualifications:
Investment experience in a comparable role as an asset allocator, investment manager, or investment consultant is preferred. In-depth equity knowledge is required and experience with manager selection is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a developed network with the investment management and/or asset allocator community. The most important qualifications are intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, attention to detail, second-level thinking, and the ability to marry quantitative and qualitative frameworks to form investment recommendations.
Highly developed computer skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required. Qualified individuals must be comfortable with quantitative analysis, have outstanding writing skills and be comfortable with creating and giving professional oral presentations to colleagues and clients. Must be detail oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multiple-task environment. College degree required. Advanced degree and/or the CFA and/or CAIA designations (or progress toward these credentials) is highly valued. Working knowledge of FactSet, FactSet RMS and eVestment is a plus. It is expected that this individual be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
