WELLINGTON MANAGEMENT

Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 50 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

POSITION

We are seeking to recruit an Equity Research Analyst to join our Custos team within the broader Consumer Global Industry Research group. Custos (meaning "guardian" in Latin) is Wellington's beta-neutral long/short portfolio built to exploit ramping fundamental disruption across the global consumer landscape. Located in Boston, the Analyst will partner with the Portfolio Manager and Wellington's broader consumer team to support fundamental research efforts across the global consumer investment universe and provide alpha-generating investment ideas. S/he will conduct all aspects of research that lead to differentiated investment insights, including business and industry research, company visits and management meetings, detailed modeling and quantitative analytics, and other work aimed toward anticipating under-appreciated changes in a rapidly changing industry.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the consumer universe, sub-sectors, and companies; be skilled in identifying areas of where consensus expectations and market valuations do not accurately reflect our view of the probable future; and be comfortable making investment recommendations that balance both risk and reward considerations. S/he will be passionate about the markets with a demonstrated track record of successful stock recommendations and/or working with a mentor who has exhibited consistent investment excellence. S/he must exhibit a fundamental, research-oriented, bottom-up approach, supported by a strong investment philosophy and process. An ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as an equity analyst, preferably on the buyside;
  • Strong bottom-up, fundamental approach to research;
  • Confidence to take investment risk, humility to handle "being correct", and resilience to handle "being wrong";
  • Strong work ethic, disciplined attention to detail, and ability to work independently;
  • Demonstrated track record of stock picking success;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in a collaborative, results-oriented environment; and
  • Strong academic credentials; MBA/CFA preferred.
