POSITION

The Business Development Analyst (BDA) is a member of the USFIG team supporting our hedge fund distribution efforts.  This individual will work closely with the Client Portfolio Managers to support the sales and growth of our distribution efforts.   The Business Development Analyst is a motivated sales professional responsible for raising and retaining assets within a geographic territory by making proactive phone calls to financial advisors to generate sales across our alternative investment platform. The BDA works as part of a team, including external sales professionals and other internal sales partners.  We are seeking energetic, self-driven and ambitious candidates with exceptional communication skills, deep product knowledge and a desire to learn in a highly intellectual, fast-paced, collaborative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include the following:

External:
  • Partner with and support Client Portfolio Managers (CPM) to proactively engage and deepen relationships with US wealth management financial advisors and distributor home offices
  • Work in partnership with CPM to expand and discover new business opportunities
  • Generate high levels of prospecting activity including, but not limited to, proactive outbound phone activity, networking, and new business development in order to uncover/expand relationships with existing and new clients in the US wealth management channel to drive sales and growth
  • Proactive servicing including follow-up after CPM meetings, provide additional product level detail, obtain feedback on the meeting, and inquire about additional needs
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of meetings, seminars, conferences, and conference calls involving sales team


Internal:
  • Partner with Wellington Alternatives Investments, Relationship Management, Product Management, and Marketing to produce and distribute relevant content in an effort to drive business activity 
  • Provide internal updates on field observations from financial advisors, including product trends, best practices, and opportunities for impact
  • Assist with territory analysis and management


Marketing/Sales Tracking and Coordination:
  • Gather, maintain, and analyze sales data for focus distributors to identify opportunities where we should provide targeted support;  work closely with CPM to develop and execute plan


QUALIFICATIONS
We seek the following professional and personal qualifications:
  • Deep and broad knowledge of the global capital markets, investment styles,  and instruments
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Solid relationship building skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Sound business judgment
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of team
  • Experience with Salesforce and Excel
  • Ability to work effectively within team environment and a willingness to "pitch in" when necessary
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines; exhibit grace under pressure
  • Understanding of US wealth management channel, alternatives investments and private placement distribution is a plus
  • Proven history of successful outbound phone sales activity is a plus
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses or willingness to obtain within 3 months
  • MBA and/or CFA designation or equivalent advance degree preferred (or progress towards)
