Job Title:              Equity Research Associate – Modeling Intern

Reports to:           Sr. Equity Research Analyst

Department:       Equity Research

Form:                     Part-time (20 weekly hours area), During Academic Year

Location:              Boston

This individual will work closely with our senior equity research professionals to assist in the preparation of financial, disease state, product and industry-based Excel analytical models related to selected publicly held biotechnology and life sciences companies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Incorporate direction of senior equity research professionals on the design and details of desired Excel-based analyses and forecasts of public company financials, industry trends, and disease states
  • Collect financial and fundamental data related to subject companies and areas of interest
  • Analyze financial and fundamental data
  • Assess results of market research surveys
  • Build detailed Excel-based models that detail and enable the analysis and forecasting of subject companies’ financial condition and results, including linked fundamental and financial analyses
  • Prepare for and participate in discussions with company executives or medical/industry consultant interviews by taking notes, developing and maintaining information in preparation of analyses
  • Update and maintain quantitative and/or fundamental Excel-based models
  • Respond to model-related inquiries from firm personnel and present work product internally


    Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Strong quantitative modeling and Excel skills related to company financial analysis
  • 0-1 years work experience including internships
  • Employment or academic experience related to healthcare, biology or chemistry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong quantitative modeling and Excel skills
  • Highest attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage tight timelines
  • Qualified candidates will be progressing toward a BS, BA or MBA from a prestigious school with high achievement; coursework in business, economics or CFA Level 1 is a plus.
